We are excited to announce the (Summer Psychology Research Initiative) SPRINT as one of the recipients for the 2024 Access Programs University Fund (APUF). The program has been awarded a two-year grant to bolster their efforts in broadening high school students’ perspectives on psychology topics and research experience.
It was launched in 2021 to address the underrepresentation of communities in psychology research which include BIPOC, gender-minority and first-generation students. It is a free 10-day intensive program that runs during the last two weeks of July each year at the St. George Campus.

This year the program ran from July 15-26, 2024, where they introduced 54 high school students to the field of psychology with the help of 34 graduate students and post-docs, 13 undergraduate students, and 7 faculty and staff members. The students participated in a broad range of lectures, tutorials and panels which ultimately led to the co-creation of their research proposals and presentations.
