Dr. Ryan Hargraves is the Executive Director of University Admissions and Outreach at the University of Toronto (U of T). Before joining U of T, he served as Executive Director of Admissions and Orientation at the University of Vermont (UVM) and as Senior Associate Dean of Admission at the University of Virginia (UVA), where he chaired the Athletic Advisory Council. At UVA, he also helped launched the Undergraduate Admission Outreach Office, focusing on initiatives to support students from underrepresented backgrounds in navigating the admissions process.

Ryan has also been a faculty member for the Emerging Leaders Program, sponsored by the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC), and for three years served as a delegate to The College Board’s Access and Diversity Collaborative. An expert in international student enrollment, he currently oversees the admission, recruitment, and outreach efforts to students from nearly 200 countries and regions. Additionally, he is a member of the Strategic Higher Education Advisory Council for Cambridge University Press & Assessment.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Chemistry and a master’s in Social Foundations of Education from the University of Virginia. He earned his doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on the role of admissions committees at top North American universities.
